Our buyers have to know as much as possible about an individual animal before
purchasing. The economics of the Beef industry are very important to Steiner Ranches. We
know itâs often a fast pace business and at times, very unforgiving. Making a mistake in
bull selection can be very costly. We know our buyers are very knowledgeable and learn
as much as possible prior to purchasing each bull and putting them in their pasture.

Measurements) to our buyers.

RPM's are a complete easy to use progeny measurement system which rewards the
strength of parental performance while highlighting individual performance.

Reliable Bull Evaluation Process

For years we have provided Expected Progeny Differences (EPD's) in addition to other
important performance traits in our catalog for review.

EPD's provide a guide as to the expected genetic changes in progeny as pre-determined
by the individuals' Sire and Dam as supplied within a contemporary group. This
contemporary group information is usually derived from a varied number of independent
sources and the accuracy is totally dependent on the quality and integrity of the
information supplied for calculations.

Our industry is dictating that EPD's be used. We agree but also realize that the evaluation
process should be more than just looking at the numbers of an individual's parents.
Ultimately, the individualâs own performance is as we have always predicted, very
important.

EPD information is a percentage of the predictable progeny performance ability derived
from an individuals sire and dam. It is important that breeders be able to evaluate the
individual completely while using the remaining percentage of expected progeny predictability which relies on the performance of the individual.

RPM's (Reliable Progeny Measurements) are the combination of parental expected
progeny difference and individual performance for a given trait.
